sentimental heart

sorry i've been kind of mia for a little while. as you can see i recovered from my wisdom tooth surgery (barely), although i had to get a second prescription for painkillers because my face kept hurting for so long. new year's eve was cool, jan and i went into the city to cathy's fraternity at columbia to celebrate with all my friends from home, and stayed at rachel's apartment/met her bun named cricket who let me hold her although she was very scared. later that week i started breaking out in hives, and a few days later realized it was from the jacked i'd just gotten for christmas and was subsequently unable to wear- very sad. i spent some time in rhode island and lamented my one year anniversary of being abroad, literally cried from boredom one day, and got a $20 haircut at vidal sassoon.

school has started back up although i wasn't here the first week because my grandmother, ruth kaslove, passed away. it was my first funeral and very strange and confusing and upsetting all at the same time. now i'm starting classes up again and pretty much behind in every single one and just trying to catch up. secretly i miss jan a whole lot and am still adjusting to only getting to see him about once a week, but i guess i'm just lucky he doesn't live that far away. still, it's been kind of a bummer of a semester so far and i just can't wait for it to get warm out and get to spend time in rhode island and with my friends at home. this is the year i'm going to get tan, i swear to god! we'll see what happens....

meanwhile, rachel's recovering from surgery and i'm going home thursday to see her, which will be nice/sort of hilarious because i'm going to feed her eat melty ice cream just like she did to me post-wisdom teeth. tomorrow i have to go to uconn's puppetry lab and i'm terrified (what if one of them reaches out and grabs my hair? WHAT IF I GET LOST IN THE PUPPET ROOM AND THE LAST PERSON OUT BEFORE ME TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF? there is a whole world of unpredictable horrible things that could happen). also, valentine's day next week- i'm going to try to cook for the first time ever. we'll see how that goes.

the office was on last night and here it is in its entirety. i think it was one of the better episode, if only for the first 10 minutes and the fake jack black movie.
