today i watched the movie "rec," a spanish zombie movie. i have to say, i think zombie movies have become pretty much the only thing i'm interested in watching lately, which can't be a good sign (especially considering my intense fear of zombies). i like to think that they're teaching me how to defend myself in case the zombie apocalypse comes.
the movie was really well done and way scarier than either "dawn of the dead"s, in my opinion. it's from the viewpoint of a local news reporter and her cameraman, who become trapped in a quarantine-like situation in a building full of people. you can watch the whole thing online here, it is definitely very spooky and worth watching.
tomorrow i'm driving up to bristol, rhode island to spend the 4th of july with kiri, cathy, chad, caroline, and a bunch of other friends. it's my first 4th away from home (unfortunately i'm gonna have to miss the westport fireworks tomorrow night) but i'm excited to see the parade- apparently it's one of the best ones in the northeast. my obama '08 shirt didn't get here yet, so i guess i'll just have to shamelessly wear american flag colors on friday. my mom usually makes a sweet checkerboard cake that i'll be missing out on... alas. sacrifices must be made.
