i will be home in two months and look you in the eyes

i officially leave for london in exactly two months, which seems so far away and somehow two months ago seems like it has passed by in only a heartbeat. ain't it strange.

anyway. today kat, brett and i went to a program at the student union called "the tunnel of oppression." ok, have you seen that south park episode about tolerance where they have to walk through the tunnel of discrimination and learn how to be more accepting? yeah, it was exactly like that, except a little funnier. i had no idea "std's" was a form of oppression, but apparently uconn thinks it is. thanks for keeping me informed and tolerant, guys. this morning dawn confirmed my fears about MRSA by telling me she had to pull her kid out of swimming because of it- AWESOME. see? completely rational. also, i've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety, lovely. i'm supposed to start feeling better now, right?

i guess that's what the upcoming vacation is for. although i might just go home this weekend to get out of here for some extra time. after thanksgiving there are only three weeks left in the semester, so anyone who's around campus should come find me before december 15th. it's strange; this feels almost exactly like when i left marymount, except not nearly as sad. i really lament leaving a bunch of my friends behind there, most of whom i haven't seen since almost a year ago at this point. i do miss them and at times, the school, a lot. i sense somewhere inside that i won't feel quite a loss for this past semester when i'm gone in london. i will surely miss my family, and some of the people i see a lot, but on the whole, good riddance.

i spent the better part of tonight reading tadeusz borowski's this way for the gas, ladies and gentlemen, which, if you haven't read it, is awesome. i wish i had a link to it to put up, but you could probably find something from googling it. and now i get to try to read 14 issues of the new york times in the next hour- best tuesday ever!
